Our Forest School and Outdoor Pursuits provision for Primary and Secondary pupils is designed to inspire learning beyond the classroom through meaningful engagement with the natural world. From the moment a pupil joins us, they are introduced to the Forest School ethos, developing confidence, independence, and a love of the outdoors through carefully planned, child-centred activities. Led by qualified Forest School practitioners, sessions include bushcraft, campfire cooking, navigation, teamwork challenges, environmental exploration and outdoor skills, delivered both on-site and at local woodland and nature reserves in partnership with organisations such as the Woodland Trust and Wildlife Trusts. Pupils also gain an understanding of conservation, sustainability, and opportunities to volunteer, fostering respect for nature locally and globally.
Through progressive, year-round outdoor learning, pupils build resilience, problem-solving skills, emotional awareness and cooperation, while safely learning to manage risk and develop physical and social confidence. As they move through the school, experiences are carefully sequenced and aligned with pupils’ individual needs and personalised learning targets, ensuring continuity from Primary Forest School into Secondary Outdoor Pursuits. At Key Stage 4, students may work towards the nationally recognised National Outdoor Learning Award, supporting personal development and leadership. Above all, our programme offers memorable, enriching experiences that nurture wellbeing, life skills and a lifelong connection to the natural environment.
