Science - Key Stage 1-4
At Caldecott Foundation School, we are committed to developing pupils as curious, confident, and capable scientific thinkers. We believe that every child, regardless of their starting point or individual needs, deserves access to an inspiring and meaningful science education. Our science curriculum is designed to nurture curiosity about the world, encouraging pupils to ask thoughtful questions and develop a deep understanding of key concepts across biology, chemistry, and physics.
Through a hands-on, enquiry-based approach, pupils learn to explore, investigate, and problem-solve, building both practical and analytical skills. We also place great importance on communication, helping pupils use scientific vocabulary to explain their thinking and share ideas clearly. Our curriculum promotes resilience and independence, enabling pupils to engage with science in a way that builds self-esteem and prepares them for life beyond school. Above all, we aim to make science relevant, accessible, and ambitious – showing pupils how it connects to everyday life and the wider world, with clear progression from primary through to secondary education.
PSHE
Our intent for Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education is to ensure every pupil gains the knowledge, understanding, and emotional literacy needed to play an active, positive, and successful role in today’s diverse society. We implement this through weekly, age-appropriate lessons using the Jigsaw PSHE curriculum as a foundation, which we carefully tailor to meet individual needs.
The impact is that when pupils leave the Caldecott Foundation, they are able to confidently manage their emotions, possess a positive self-image, and are well-equipped to navigate real-life situations as healthy, respectful, and socially responsible members of the community.
